What do you think of these draft logo designs for Beelzebreast, the animated series? Which one is your favorite?
Combing through Artstation for new and exciting artists to follow, an artwork by Alex J Brady caught my eye. The Sailbeast, inspired by Dark is the Sun was my first introduction into Alex’s work. I was hooked. I browsed through her works and was captured by her science fiction concepts and incredibly unique aircraft and spaceship design.
It is really exciting when you find an artist that really represents the content you are interested in. Much of Alex’s work is inspired by science fiction novels that I have read and really enjoy. Dune seems to be a particular interest.
From Alex J Brady’s Patreon account:
“Hi! My name is Alex Jay Brady, I’m an concept artist and illustrator. In order to be able to spend time making art outside of normal commercial work, focused mostly on Dune related stuff I’ve set up this Patreon. I hope I can make interesting things for you!
I’ve read Dune every few years since I was a kid and each time its opened up a bit more. Now with the movie coming there’s a huge swell of interesting analysis and discussion on the internet and thanks to the audiobooks I’ve been enjoying the later books far more than I used to, and so have tonnes of ideas for things to draw. My dream is one day, I can take making art for fans from a hobby to a part-time job.”
What got me excited is when I saw Culture related work popping up on her Instagram feed. The Culture by Iain M Banks is by far my favorite science fiction series ever! Unfortunately Iain M Banks has passed away and we won’t be seeing any more books.
Lucky for me and all the other Culture fans, we can relive the immersive universe of what is the Culture through Alex’s fantastic 3D renders.
